Team careMESH: Meet Tyler Bowler

Why did you decide to join careMESH?

The opportunity could not have come at a better time! I was ready to move on from a startup that had not gained the traction we hoped for and found the opportunity to work as a contractor here at careMESH.  I recognized immediately that I would enjoy the family-style atmosphere and the challenges we were tackling. As a father of three young kids, I was sold once I knew they had a good work/life balance. So I was blessed to become the 6th employee starting only eight months after inception. Thankfully I have a loving and understanding wife who was also on board with beginning another journey with a startup. So far, so good!

What is your role with the company?

My title is “Software Developer,” and I have been the lead on our careMESH application and API over the past year. This means that if you have used our application, then chances are I have written and/or touched the code that makes up the screens you see each time you log in. I also get the opportunity to work with our customers on other projects, ranging from building a proof of concept to checking the feasibility of a new feature or pulling together data. My other duties include being a supportive resource for my colleagues and customers.

What have been your highlights so far working with careMESH technology?

As one of the primary developers of careMESH technology, I get the opportunity to make our customers’ technology. The highlight so far has been building our TRANSITIONS platform and seeing it immediately impact patient care.

What makes working in healthcare important to you?

If we do our job right, we will improve the quality and timeliness of how our customers can support their patients.

Tell us a little something about yourself outside of work.

I enjoy many different things outside of work, such as helping run the sound and video at my church. And time outside is particularly important to me. Each year, I plant a garden, and last year I grew sunflowers over 13 feet tall!  Recently, I took the opportunity to go backpacking in southwestern Virginia. And I really do like Autumn, as my family and I camp out in the backyard with a campfire and make s’mores.
